About The Artist
They called him "The Old Hoosier" but he seemed anything but. He was a story teller, a vocalist as well as a bit of a gagster. He was known to be down-to-earth and did what might be called "homey" entertainment. He was born in southern Indiana and had been in show buxiness and radio since it began almost. By the mid 1940s, he had already spent 15 years at WOWO in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was known to many folks on the WOWO Hoosier Hop radio show as "Happy Herb".
