About The Artist His name was George Herman (Eddie) Edwards. He was born in the town of Duenweg, MO. He married the former Virginia Lawrence on May 5, 1934 in Clay County, MO. He played a black face comedian role on the KMBC Brush Creek Follies show known as George Washington White. Eddie as he was known, was also a producer, director, sound effects man, actor and musician. His obituary stated he also had roles in such shows as "Hapy Hollow," "The Happy Kitchen," and, several others. He had an interest in health that led to him producing a weekly drama program about health Education called "Health and Happiness," that ran for some 17 years in both the United States and Canada. He produced a 13-week series sponsored by the American Hospital Association. The latter part of his career included 19 years as national account representative for Blue Cross-Blue Shield until he retired on December 31, 1971. He joined KMBC when he was still a teen-ager taking on the role of entertainer and actor. He worked at the station continually except for three years when he was serving his country as a Warrant Officer in the Maritime Service. Jim Carson wrote in his 1949 column that on August 12, 1949, Eddie celebrated 20 years with KMBC. Mr. Carson noted he was part of other shows such as "The Tune Chasers," "Dinnerbell," and, "Western Roundup." Credits & Sources
