Joe Edmon Morris, 97, of Chapin died February 19, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born on December 5, 1924, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Bud Joe and Mary Lee Cotney Morris.

He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and a member of Colony Lutheran Church.

Joe was the founding member of Joe Morris and the Silver Dew Boys Band — writing songs and playing at various local events. He later transitioned his love of music to a career as a radio broadcaster, and ultimately, he retired as an accountant. He was a true Southern Gentleman and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers Hoyt (Margaret) Morris and Herman (Florence) Morris; and two sisters, Elberta (J.B.) Brock and Azilee (Olin) Smith. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted by the Rev. Michele Fischer at Colony Lutheran Church Cemetery on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial may be made to Colony Lutheran Church, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
