About The Group
The Hoot owls were lead by Shorty Shedd and were working out of Central Florida in late 1953. The band had been together for about seven years by then. They were appearing daily over radio station WHOO out of Orlando, Florida.
Jim Wilson, who was a top disc jockey in the area at the time, also did the announcing for the groups daily radio show and sang with the band. Jim also had a two-hour show that aired each day over WHOO.
