About The Artist She was born Nancy Louise Sizemore to her parents Asher and Odessa (Foley) Sizemore. She was their only daughter. The exact date is known, but she was born around 1935. Her father Asher began a radio career in the early 1930's. But he did not do so as a solo act. At first, he had his three year old son that became known as "Little Jimmie" join him. For several years, it was "Asher and Little Jimmie" to radio fans. Then the Sizemores added to their family. There was James Leslie who became "Little Jimmie." Then came Charles Edward who became "Buddy Boy." Nancy Louise came along and joined the act at a very early age. Finally, Walter Bradley ("Little Cowboy Joe") was the last family member to join the radio troupe. Of the Sizemores, research to date has not been as fruitful in terms of details about her or her life. When Rural Radio featured Asher Sizemore and Little Jimmy on the cover of its March 1938 issue, the accompanying story included a picture of a smiling Nancy Louise that was seen in other promotional pictures for their shows. The 1940's brought changes to the family troupe. Little Jimmie was now an adult and served in the U. S. Army. In 1950, Buddy Boy was a soldier and was in the Korean conflict. He was later said to be missing in action and his remains were not recovered until 2000. He was finally brought home to be buried in Rushville, Indiana in 2006. Nancy Louise could be heard as a very young toddler on some of the Asher Sizemore and Little Jimmie transcriptions. In one such show, she sang "Beautiful Brown Eyes." With the older boys in the service, Nancy Louise and her little brother known as "Little Cowboy Joe" were the stars of the act with Asher. Nancy is seen playing the accordion in promotional photos. She was a part of the Hawkeye Barn Dance when the family moved to Waterloo, Iowa to do shows for KXEL. Later, she was on the Kentucky Barn Dance when the family went back home to Kentucky and Indiana. But very little else is known of her as the song folios that Asher published each year generally did not tell too much details about the kids other than Little Jimmie and the 1951 tribute folio to Buddy Boy. Berea College has in its Special Collections and Archives several of the Asher Sizemore and Little Jimmie transcription programs.
