About The Artist
A small photo captioned "Featured Vocalist" started our research of Jeaninne Hargove. The 1949 article noted she was the featured vocalist for Bill Case and his Melody Boys on radio station KCNC of Fort Worth, Texas. And also mentioned the Royal-Tone Records label. The name "Bill Case" should be familiar to hillbilly music fans - his wife was Floy Case. Jeaninne was the vocalist on two releases by the band that included her dad as well - Homer Hargrove. She sang the harmony parts. In 1944, Jeaninne's dad, Homer, was working at a bomber plant in Fort Worth, TX in support of the World War II efforts. Floy Case reported that Homer and his family had moved to Tucumcari, NM in 1947. He was working for a jewelry firm then and not on the radio. But rumors were his company might sponsor a quarter hour show for him. In the August - September 1956 issue of "Melody Trails" published by the Ernest Tubb Fan Club, we learned a key piece of her biography. By 1956, Jeaninne had moved to Tucumcari, NM along with her brother Bill Hargrove. Their father was Homer Hargrove, who was part of the Bill Case and His Melody Boys. Jeaninne married Don Slusher on May 29, 1956.
