About The Artist Paul Simpkins was a popular disc jockey in the Montgomery, Alabama area over radio station WBAM in the 1950s. He had a show called "Housewives Hit Parade" that aired from 10:00am to 11:45am in 1957. A 1957 article indicated he got his start in Hatchez, Mississippi back in 1941. His career took him to McComb and later to Jackson. In Jackson, he met his future wife, Clara and married her in 1945. By 1957, they had three children, Paul, Jr., Mike and Joe. His early career kept him in Mississippi until the fateful day that WBAm contacted him. At the time, the radio station was barely a year old. But Paul saw the opportunity and moved to Montgomery to become the morning disc jockey over WBAM. Surprisingly, his career was not much mentioned in other later country music publications. But his reputation had been earned - for in 1998 he was inducted into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame.
