Ruth was born May 10, 1924 in Melrose Park, IL, the daughter of Giovanni and Francesca (Menolascino) Miccolis. She left Illinois at an early age to pursue a music career. She, along with her sister Mary, were a duet known as the “Miccolis Sisters”.

They were employed at CBS Radio station KMOX for 7 years and then KXOK for 2 years in St. Louis. In 1947 they moved to radio and television station WIBW in Topeka where they remained for 7 years. Their professional career consisted of working with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Eddie Arnold and WLS National Barn dance in Chicago.

Ruth married John B. Williams. he died in 1983. Survivors include their children: Dawn (Glynn) Newell, Bedford, TX, Vicki Wagenaar, Topeka, KS, Leif (Billie) Williams, Topeka, KS, and grandchildren, Nicole Howard, Marissa Wagenaar, Caleb Newell and Ashlyn Newell. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Ruth cherished spending time with her family, and loved volunteering at church where she helped lead young hearts to the Lord at Sunday School.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the funeral home.
