What Vivian Burke of Smokey Mountain Girls Passes Away at 90

Vivian Eilene Burke, 90, Marion, died at 1:20 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Suite Living, Sweetser, Indiana. She was born to the late Virgil and Mattie (Lyons) Cunningham and was a graduate of Swayzee High School. She married George Alvin Burke on July 18, 1943.

Vivian had a very musical background. She enjoyed singing and playing piano and guitar. In her younger years, Vivian and her sister sang on the radio as the "Smokey Mountain Girls". She later met her husband at a barn dance. Vivian loved crafts, especially crocheting, knitting and cross stitching and was an avid animal lover.

Vivian is survived by her, husband, George Alvin Burke, Marion, IN; daughters, Terry (Douglas) Ellet, Somerset, IN and Sheryl (Benjamin) Reed, Gloucester, MA; son, Robert (Patricia) Burke, Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Mark (Michelle) Burke, Christine (Reggie) Gimlin, Burke (Jennifer) Gardner, Benjamin Gardner, Amanda (Douglas) Bruce; nine great grandchildren and her seven grand dogs; sisters, Phyllis (Joe) Gordon and Kay Cunningham.

In addition to her parents, Vivian is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Cunningham; and sister, Wilma Jeane Kimmel.

Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, with Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Marion, Indiana.

Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2014 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Rybolt Chapel.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Family Life Care for the loving care given to Vivian.

Memorials may be made to Family Life Care Hospice, 705 S. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN.
