Nellie Veremko Bellman, 93 years old.
Nellie was an avid cyclist who continued to bike 150 miles per week at Miami White Water Forest Park,
as old as 88 years old.
In her 70's, Nellie did three week-long GOBA (Great Ohio Bike Association) bike rides,
which involved 50-mile-per-day rides.
Earlier in her life, Nellie was a WWII veteran who met her husband in Paris, France.
After her military service, she volunteered her time to start the school library
at Our Lady of Visitation, and later, she became school secretary.
Nellie loved kids and they loved her. Helping others was one of her joys in life.
In her retirement, Nellie was a treasured volunteer at St. John's Social Service Center
in Over the Rhine, at Santa Maria in Price Hill, and at Western Hills Mercy
Hospital.
Beloved wife of the late Alfred J. Bellman. Loving mother
of Diane (Jerry) Steinberg, Marie (Tom) Lester, and Daniel (Fran) Bellman. Also survived
by 6 grandchildren - Chad, Lisa, Laura, Michael, Jeff, and Molly - and by
6 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Paul, Peter, Johnny and Philip Veremko. Daughter
of the late Trofim and Jadwiga (nee Lubera) Veremko.
Visitation Saturday 9-10:15 am at Our Lady of Visitation Church.
Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Internment to follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made with the notation "in memory of Nellie Bellman"
to the Great Parks Foundation, 10245 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. With these funds,
the family hopes to donate a tree or bench for Miami White Water Forest, where Nellie biked.
Also, donations can be made in Nellie's name to Our Lady of Visitation School for its
playground fund.
