Vern Stovall, beloved father and friend, 84, of Laguna Park, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012, in Waco. A memorial service will be held at the family home on Sunday, December 23 at 2:00 PM.

Vern was born on October 3, 1928, in Altus, OK to the late James Denton and Bessie Williard (Murphy) Stovall. He married Mary Helen Foster on January 8, 1958 in California.

Vern was an accomplished singer and songwriter, and his songs were recorded by Merle Haggard, Lonnie Smith, Elvis Presley and others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Danny Stovall, Allan Stovall, and Jeff (Teensy) Stovall.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Stovall of Laguna Park; children Sharon Stovall Simmons and husband, Glen, of Albuquerque, NM, Vern Stovall, Jr. and wife, Karla, of Lewisville, Christy Stovall Moss of Irving, Bobby Stovall and wife, Jackie, of Irving, Michelle Stovall of Laguna Park, Johnny Milligan of Texarkana, TX, and Michael Milligan of Arlington; fifteen grandchildren, Jamie, Kathy, Robin, Brandon, Carissa, Alina, Denton, Theresa, Jason, Graycee, Mand, Shelby, Lindsay, Jeffrey, Mary Kay, and Bobby Dan; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchilren; and very special nieces, Karly, Tiffany and Sara.
