What John (J. D.) Jarvis, World War II Vet and Bluegrass Musician, Passes Away at 86

John D.“J.D.” Jarvis age 86 of Hamilton passed away Friday December 31, 2010 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born April 21, 1924 in Manchester, Kentucky son of the late John and Mae (nee Eversole) Jarvis. On May 25, 1 in London, Kentucky he married Rosie Owens. Mr. Jarvis was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, the recipient of three Purple Hearts among his many commendations.

After his war service Mr. Jarvis worked as a painter and decorator, and becam well known Bluegrass musician. The story of his many accomplishments was the subject of a November 11, 2010 Journ News feature article. (Google “J.D. Jarvis” for much more information)

Mr. Jarvis is survived by his wife, Rosie Jarvis; on Lucky (Bridgett) Jarvis; two grandchildren; five great grandchil and one brother, Charles (Debbie) Gregory. Mr. Jarvis was also preceded in death by four siblings.

Visitation 5-8 PM Tuesday at WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial to follow with full milita honors in Rose Hill Burial Park.
