On Friday, Sept. 3, local performers will present the play: "Reflections in
the Spring" at dusk, on the pavilion at the Mammoth Spring State Park. The plays tells
the story of Mammoth Spring's connection to the Grand Ole Opry.
George D. Hay, who was a reporter for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, attended
the hoedown in Mammoth Spring while he was here on an assignment and later wrote
in his history of the Opry that he was inspired by the musicians he heard at that
hoedown. The play was written by local author Martha Bennet. Music is performed by
the Mammoth Spring Strings and the cast of the play.
