The Special Collections Department, Georgia State University Library, proudly
presents a celebration of the Wayne W. Daniel Collection and Endowment
on Sunday, June 12, 2005.
The event will be held at the Atlanta Century Center Marriott,
2000 Century Boulevard, NE, from 2-4pm. and will include speakers
from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Country Music Hall of Fame,
and Tennessee Tech University as well as bluegrass music from the Bluegrass 5.
The Daniel Endowment was established to promote acquisition, preservation,
outreach, and research in the areas of country, bluegrass, and Southern

Professor Daniel Endows Music Archive
Georgia State Professor Emeritus Dr. Wayne W. Daniel recently
funded a library endowment to support the acquisition of material
related to Southern gospel, bluegrass and country music. The collection—which
includes material amassed personally by Daniel—will be part of the Special
Collections Popular Music archive.
Daniel retired in 1991 from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Institute
of Decision Sciences. He is author of "Pickin’ on Peachtree: a History
of Country Music in Atlanta, Georgia" (University of Illinois Press, 1990).
