Gene Standard, 68, of Nicholson died Monday.
The funeral is 1 p.m. today at Tim Stewart Lawrenceville Chapel.
Burial will be in East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceville.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today
at the funeral home.
Mr. Standard was a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame.
As a drummer, he played with many of the great musicians in Georgia country
music, including fiddler Paul Aiken and the Country Gentlemen Band,
singer Chuck Atha and guitarist Tommy Pagent.
"You couldn't have picked a better man," John Larson, Hall of
Fame co-director, said. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Standard of Nicholson;
two children, Terri Doughty of Grayson and Tammy Standard
of Braselton; five stepchildren, Larry Davis of Hog Mountain,
Barry Davis of Auburn, Tim Davis of Auburn, Joey Davis of Gainesville
and Cindy Thompson of Dacula; his mother, Beauford Roberts of Moultrie;
his brother, Stan May of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, 14 stepgrandchildren,
and one great-grandchild.
