Giant Louisiana Hayride Cast Reunion - June 27-28, 2003
Contact Joey Kent for more information at (318) 349-4245.
Lots of historic photos are available through Joey's Louisiana
Hayride Archives web site as well.
The event is called "One More 'Ride" (as in "Hayride") and promises
to be the single largest concentration of classic country music
talent ever assembled! Over 50 of the acts that found their way
to stardom on the world famous Louisiana Hayride stage will be
returning to the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana
the weekend of June 27 & 28th for two world class shows.
"One More Ride" is the brainchild of Joey Kent, son of former
Hayride owner David Kent who was the show's producer from
1974 to 1987, and Wayne Everett of Kansas City based
Scena Records.
"I wanted to pay tribute to the many incredible artists who
came from the Hayride, give them one more chance to play the
Municipal stage, give their fans one more chance to hear them,
and have an unbeatable reunion," Kent said from his home in
Shreveport. "Over the past ten years I have assembled an archive
of historic photos and recordings from the Louisiana Hayride and
am now augmenting it with video interviews of the personalities
with an eye towards making the series available for
future study."
Kent is working with veteran Hayride announcer Frank Page on a
coffee table book about the Hayride featuring dozens of interviews
and over 1000 photos from the world famous country show that
gave the world Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves,
Kitty Wells, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Slim Whitman, Webb Pierce
and countless others. This historic weekend will wrap up the
research phase on the book which will be assembled over the
summer in hopes of hitting stores early next year.
