Services for Patricia Fay Mims will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday
in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mims, 72, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Born in Florence County, Aug. 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late
Thomas Cylvester Cooper and Lillian Irma Smith Cooper. She was a member of Northgate
Baptist Church, and was a retired entertainer.
Mrs. Mims was the widow of the late Charles Edward Slim Mims.
(Hillbilly-Music.com note: Slim Mims headed up a popular group known as Slim Mims
and the Dream Ranch Boys. The late songwriter, Glenn Sutton, was also a part
of Slims troupe early in his career. Mrs. Mims recorded a record for the Roni label
owned by her husband - "Memory Mountain" b/w "Dream Time" in the early 1960s.)
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Mims of Latta; son, David Mims
of Seattle; sister, Polly Cooper Bishop of Tampa, Fla.; brother, William Bruce
Cooper of Trenton, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
