About the Group

About The Group

They hailed from Galesburg, Illinois. They were a western swing band that quickly went to the top of the fans hearts in that area. They did a monthly remote control broadcast over WGIL in Galesburg from a local club. They did most of their shows at local high school stages and college proms. They played a wide variety of musical types back then as you might expect playing the local circuits. In addition to western swing, Cowboy Songs of December 1957 wrote that they also played pop, rhumba, tango and rock 'n' roll. All five members were said to be able to read music. While only Tex, Jack and Carl wrote original songs. Tex and Warren did the arrangements. And the comedy routines were served up by their leader, "Pops" Jack Jackson.
