About The Group The talented Burdick Family were in Colorado at radio station KEXO in Grand Junction by 1956. The group included quite a range in ages - with Jerry Lou being the youngest at six and Jackie at 19. Two of them, Jackie and Hugh were born in Missourie, while their siblings, Larry, Jerry Lou, Delores and Johnnie were born while the family lived in California for 15 years. In 1955, they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, eventually settling in DeBeque. As a group, they had started playing around 1952. The family played quite an array of musical instruments ranging from the steel guitar to banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Each of them helped out on the various vocal numbers, too. While they were in Los Angeles, they won the 1952 Music Award from the city from Mayor Paulson. They also won over 100 first place prizes in various musical contests. They appeared over KTLA-TV, channel 5 as well as over radio stations KXLA and KFVD. While in Los Angeles, they also appeared on the Town Hall Party show out of Compton as well as Walkin' Charlie Aldrich's television show. The group appeared with such famed acts as Tex Ritter, Tex Williams, Doye O'Dell, Wesley Tuttle and many others as well.
