About the Group The WIS Hired Hands were a long running popular act that aired over WIS out of Columbia, South Carolina. Their long running stint with this station began about 1936 (you'd have to infer that since a 1951 article indicated they had been there for 15 years). The leader of the group was Snuffy Jenkins. Snuffy and the gang did nightly personal appearances as you might expect. And they also did quarter hour broadcasts each week as well as a half hour ajmboree show.
