The Golden Prairie Cowboys
CKNX Wingham, ON

About The Group

The Golden Prairie Cowboys in 1955 were a bit of an all-star cast. The group was lead and managed by "Slim" Boucher, who played the bass for the group. The fiddler of the group was "Lucky" Ambeault who recorded on the Aragon label and had a hit record with his rendition of the fiddle classic "Orange Blossom Special". Slim and Lucky were two of the original members of the Golden Prairie Cowboys.

Lucky was also doing the comedian's role when he wasn't playing the fiddle for the group. The group also had a fine vocalist in Tommy Hunter who was just about six feet tall. Slim's brother, Bernie, played the steel guitar for the group.

Some of their personal appearances included places such as the Monterey Candlelight Room in Montreal, the Olympia Tavern in Toronto and the Jockey Club in Hamilton not to mention the Village Barn in New York City. They also appeared on Canada's largest 'Travelling Barn Dance' that aired over CKNX in Wingham, Ontario and appeared on the CHML "Main Street Jamboree".
