About The Group

A unique group in its time and day. All female. John Lair told Lily May Ledford to put together an all-female band for the Renfro Valley Barn Dance. So, these native Kentuckians got together and formed a group.

Their big break came when in June of 1939, the White House invited them to perform their songs for the King and Queen of England.
