About The Artist

Betty Bee was started singing when she was just eight years old. In fact, she was playing the mandolin and singing with her sister Lorna, who played the guitar as well.

Together, they would entertain the audiences over radio station WCED in DuBois, Pennsylvania on Saturday mornings. This appears to be the late 1950s or early 1960s. The station appears to also have sponsored a jamboree type show that allowed the local young talent to gain some exposure and performing in front of a live audience.

When she was a teenager, she was doing a show over radio station WDAD out of Indiana, Pennsylvania with her other sister, Velma.

In 1967, she was making personal appearances on a regular basis at the Griltz in Verona, Pennsylvania with Howard Vokes and His Country BOys. She also appeared regularly with Skip Summerville and the Blue Sky Mountaineers at the Soluth Side Sportsmen's Park.

She was also on the Vokes record label as well, which was owned by Howard Vokes of New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
