About The Artist

Shirley Ann Barnes was 17 years old when she joined the band of Bob Kocur over radio station KBOE in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born in Albia, Iowa.

She was said to have over 300 songs in her repertoire and had written two songs herself by that time - "Garden of Love" and "Cowgirl Yodel".

She started playing the guitar when she was just ten years old and appeared in front of various audiences in those early years.

Prior to joining Bob Kocur's show, she toured or three years with the Bob Morris Troupe.
