About The Artist In about 1954, a very pretty, 15 year old young lady in Indianapolis participated in an "open" audition, in Indiana for Uncle Bob Hardy's Hayloft Frolic television show. Almost immediately, Darlene was invited for several guest appearances on Uncle Bob's television show and along with those appearances, she received some great viewer response. It didn't take Uncle Bob long to recognize this fresh talent; he asked her to become a regular along with Bobby Helms, Edde Lee and the rest of the very talented Hayloft Frolic gang. Darlene became a very popular performer with the Television audience, which put her in demand to also travel with the troupe on personal appearances throughout Southern Indiana and Eastern Illinois. In 1958, Darlene joined her Hayloft Frolic friends for an overseas tour where they entertained the United Nations Forces in Germany. In 1960, Darlene was invited to be a special guest on the famous Ozark Jubilee, hosted by the legendary Country Music Hall of Famer, Red Foley on the ABC Television Network, coast to coast. After the Hayloft Frolic show went off the air in 1957, and Uncle Bob Hardy moved to Arizona, Darlene married and became a loving mother to four daughters (Donna, Denise, Debbie, Diana) and one son (David). Sadly, in 2001, the curtain came down for Darlene leaving behind only wonderful memories of her loving smile, and her special talent. Uncle Bob notes that she was definitely a pioneering talent in early country music television. Her children perhaps knew very little of her earlier, wonderful, entertaining career and mostly remember her today as Darlene Wright, the very best mom ever! Credits & Sources
