About The Artist

Jean Perron Jean Perron

Jean Perron, as she was known to country music fans, came into this world the day after Valentine's Day in 1939 in Hartford, Connecticut as Jean Eleanor Sycz. Her parents where Henry Carl and Regina Irene Sycz.

Country music became a part of Jean's life at some point. By 1964, she was appearing on the world famous WWVA Original Jamboree that aired over WWVA (1170am) out of Wheeling, West Virginia. During that time, she was a part of the Jimmy Stephens Show. It may have been coincidental that both Jimmy and Jean were born in Hartford, Connecticut, but ten years apart.

Jimmy Stephens was first invited to appear on the WWVA Jamboree in May of 1962, with folks such as Kenny Roberts, Crazy Elmer and John Corrigan helping him further his career.

A 1965 article indicates that Jean was still with Jimmy's show at that time.

She married Charles Harvey Deegear. Mr. Deegear passed away on August 13, 2008. Jean passed away in Fort Worth, Texas in March of 2009. They are survived by three children, Mark Bryan Deegear, Charles (Chuck) Harvey Deegear, Jr. and Charmaine Holly Deegear and 7 grandchildren. They were both buried at the Azleland Cemetary in Azle, Texas.
