About The Artist

Joe Price first started singing during World War II while with the Coast Guard. When he got his discharge, he became a member of the Sunshine Boys in Dallas, Texas and toured with the group.

The group then started a show based in Tyler, Texas, the Texas State Barndance, that aired over the Texas Quality Network for over a year.

In 1953, he wrote a song called "Everybody Knows I Tried" that was recorded on Imperial records, but no mention was made of who made that recording or if it was Joe himself. THe article then stated he got a recording contract with the new Starday label and had a new release called "Pay Attention Please" b/w "To Keep The Wolves Away". Both of those tunes were written by his managers, Joe and Jim Shell. Later, he recorded a tune called "Typhoon".
