About The Artist

Curley Herndon got his start in the music business at an early age, starting to play the guitar and sing when he was just seven years old. When he was 13, he had his own band and radio program.

However, he didn't get serious about a music career until he was attending an engineer's school in Kansas City, Missouri and needed a part-time job. He got himself a job with a local station and made appearances on many programs they said.

After he finished school, he moved to Shreveport, Louisiana and joined Slim Whitman's band and the KWKH Louisiana Hayride. He could be heard on Slim's Imperial recordings and in fact, had his own recording contract with the Imperial label with his partner, Hoot Rains. About late 1953 or so, there release for Imperial was "I'm Alone Tonight" and "I'm Doing Fine Without You."
