About The Artist Uncle Don's real name was Donald H. Dean and his band had been performing over WYVE in Wytheville, Virginia for about two years when we found mention of them in a Cowboy Songs article in 1953. Don played guitar and harmonica. Uncle Don was a veteran by this time, for he had been entertaining folks for nearly 18 years by then, which would indicate his career started around 1935. He was also a songwriter and had composed about 30 songs by then. His two biggest hits were said to be "Cab Driver's Blues" and "Gospel Train". Credits & Sources
