About The Artist Old Les Duncan as they called him liked to refer to himself as a "...hillbilly entertainer, rather than a musician". He was born near an old Indian burying ground named Fort Hill that was located in a community that was once known as Factory Hollow. Les grew up in the rural areas and would walk two miles each way to go to school and church from their house, which was between two hills on the bank of a stream. In 1953, he was playing out of Pittsford, New York. He kept busy with personal appearances with his band, doing spots at the local schools, night clubs. They specialized in round and square dances. He was also said to be a popular performer for novelties that pleased the large crowds they said the band attracted. Credits & Sources
