About The Artist She was born Doris E. Webster and from Ferguson, Indiana. She became known as Betty Taylor, part of Jake Taylor and His Rail Splitters and on the WWVA Jamboree. Her husband was Jake Taylor. She was the youngest girl in a family of seven children. She attended Concanon School up to the eighth grade then her family moved to West Terre Haute. She started tap dancing when she was 13 years old and danced solo for a year, when she met up with a fellow named Ray Brown (who became known as Quarantine). They became known as the "Betty-Ray Comedy Team". She married Jake Taylor on March 21, 1934 and started singing with his group. She was five feet two and weighed about 135 pounds, with light brown hair and blue eyes. A newspaper clipping stuck in the song folio we have indicated that her hobbies were movies and reading.
