About The Artist

Marian Hall was a bit of a trend setter back in the 1950s, she was the "Queen of Steel" when up till then, the steel guitar was a male-dominated instrument.

Marian and her sister, Joan Hall, got a break when they were signed by KFI-TV to do a 13 week television show of their own called "Western Jubilee". They sang as a duo, Marian singing and playing the steel, while Joan sang and played rhythm guitar. After the show's run ended, they did other radio and tv shows in the area.

Then, Marian went on a tour that took her to Anchorage, Alaska. Her sister Joan took to singing in the Western night clubs. But in 1952, Marian came back home, rested a bit, then joined up with Skeets McDonald for a national tour.

In 1955, the Town Hall Party out of Compton, California was showcasing her as the feature steel player on the show.

In September 1955, she married Larry Landers, an engineering student at UCLA at the time. They were living in southeast Los Angeles, near where the Town Hall was located.
