About The Artist

This native of Willow Valley, Alberta, had one of his recordings, "Call of the Mountains" selected as a Billboard Number One "pick" when he was all of 23. A current recording they wrote about at the time was "The Bluebirds Sing" and was destined to go to the top of the charts.

In 1953, Hod had a daily show over CFCN in Calgary, Alberta. In addition, he was a featured vocalist on the "Old-Timers" program on Friday nights.

Hod was also appearing on Ray Little's "Red Head Jamboree", which was one of Western Canada's favorite Saturday night shows back then.

Hod couldn't read or write music, he said he just 'picks it up by hand'. Well, they say he never failed to capture the audience with 'his sweet voice and masterful strumming.'
