About The Artist

Before Eddie turned to music, he was spending most weekdays on the road selling paints and varnishes. But on the weekends, he was making the rounds of the local ballrooms with his own group called the Stompers.

He got started with his musical training when he was seven, teaching himself to play the guitar. When he was 10, he began entering local amateur contests.

While Eddie was in high school, he managed to somehow do two 15-minute radio shows over KWEM in West Memphis, Arkansas. And he became somewhat of a trailblazer they said, lighting up the stage a bit as one of the first country stars to dabble in rock and roll music.

He first recorded on a small label, then the Mercury picked him up and one of his first releases was "Rockin' Daddy" with the flip side being "I've Got A Woman". On top of that, the band he had back in high school was back with him, too along about 1956 or so.
