About The Artist Mitchell Torok found his interest in hillbilly music and the guitar when he was about 12 years old. Even before he left high school, they said he had his heart set on a music career. But try as he might, he was struggling, so for a while, he gave it up and decided to go to college. But still the music itch scratched and after he graduated from college, he tried again. He got a big break when Fabor Robison of Abbott Records him him play a couple of his own compositions, "Mexican Joe" (later a big hit for Jim Reeves) and "Butterfly Love". In 1953, he wrote and recorded his tune, "Caribbean" which also displayed his singing talents. He was married back then Gail and lived in Nacogdoches, Texas at that time.
