About The Artist

Cliff Martin was originally from Tucson, Arizona, but his musical career took him east. 1n 1951, they wrote he had done most of his singing in New York City.

In 1951, he was appearing on the Ted Steel show that aired over WPIX television.

Apparently, he charmed the kids in the audience judging by the fan mail they say he got. That popularity prompted him to write a couple of tunes geared to the kids:

  • I'm A Big Red Fire Engine
  • I've Got To Have A Pony
