Professor Schultz
and his German Band
WHO Iowa Barn Dance Frolic
WHO Des Moines, IA

About The Artist

Professor Schultz and his German Band were not your normal "hill-billy" group of entertainers back on WHO and the Iowa Barn Dance Frolic in the late 1930s. They were said to delight the folks with their music of past generations. The band members all had quite a musical past with other entertainers before coming together on WHO.

Bill Williams used to play eith the Barnum, Ringling folks and Honeyboy Evans. C.B.M. Smith was said to have had "Chautauqua experience. Sandy Dalziel had played with Bohumir Kryl's concert band. B.M. Pennington had been with the Robinson circus. Eddie Scarpino was a lawyer when he wasn't playing in the band. And finally, Ed Wosky had played with Karl King's band.
