Texas Jim Turfle and his Stump Jumpers WTTR Westminster, MD

Tex Dean was a native of Midland, Texas and was said to be one of the few 'genuine' cowboy singers in the hillbilly music field. When he was just 13, Tex left the farm in Midland and began touring with a wild west show of sorts. A few years later, he owned his own show but then sold out and became the second-greatest trick and fancy rider in the rodeo circuits. He was also said to be a fine Australian bull-whip artist, too. But even with all of that western entertaining, he always had his guitar and would play and sing whenever the opportunity presented itself. Eventually, Tex gave up the riding and made music his career choice. He appeared on such stations as WWVA in Wheeling, West Virginia; KLRK in Little Rock, Arkansas; WWPB in Miami, Florida; WKAT in Miami Beach, Florida and by 1953, KWKH in Shreveport, Louisiana. By 1953, he was recording on the Trumpet label and had released "Dreamy Georgiana Moon" and "Naponnee".
