About The Artist Don Kent had an idea for a program called "Ranch Party" and it took him about a year or so, but along about mid-1954, he found a spot for it on WJBF-TV out of Augusta, Georgia. Don, like many artists of that time, spent some time in military service. Earlier in his career he could have been heard over WCSH out of Portland, Maine. And later, he was part of WCOP's Hayloft Jamboree. Don was noted as saying his "Ranch Party" idea was catching on all across the nation back then. And one of the fellows teaming with him on this concept was his manager-buddy, Ray King. Credits & Sources
