About The Artist In 1953, Marge "Shamrock" Shannon as they called her, was working in Huntington, West Virginia. At that time, she was the only female emcee and band leader in that area. She fronted a group called the Starlight Ranch Gang and were at WHTN, then known as the "Good Neighbor Station" in Huntington. Marge was inspired to be a singer they wrote when she saw Louise Massey in a western movie. She found an old guitar and started playing with local bands over stations such as WSAZ and WCMI. They mentioned she was ill for a time, but came back and was at WPLH for six months before her stint at WHTN. Credits & Sources
